It’s windy here on Hatteras Island! Hatteras is a premier destination for wind sports like kiteboarding and windsurfing but its breezes are known to toss around improperly secured trash. Place all trash in trash bags before placing in your trash can.
Our beaches aren’t the only place you can find wide open spaces. Allow plenty of space for your garbage man by placing cans side by side, at least 3 feet apart with the opening facing the road.
Don’t forget to look up at the stars! – Take advantage of the limited light pollution and look up at the starry Hatteras skies as you roll your cans out the night before pick-up. Trash collection begins as early as midnight during the busy summer season
Effective as of May 1, 2021 The Town of Nags Head has two trash routes: blue and green.
